Ergonomic Use of a Wrap-It™ Bandage Regarding Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Other Wrist Issues
A Common Factor in developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) and other wrist issues is increased hand use or activity. Repetitive activities are often blamed for the development of CTS.1 Studies done by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) indicated that job tasks involving highly repetitive manual acts or necessitating wrist bending or other stressful wrist postures (ergonomics) were connected with incidents of CTS or related problems. These studies (Over 30+) conducted by NIOSH were in regards to the occupations of assembly line workers, meat packers, food processors and the like.2 Hypothyroidism, osteoarthritis, and diabetes are often associated with CTS-like symptoms, as are variables of age, obesity, and wrist dimensions.3
Our wraps help in all of the above situations. A Wrap-It™ Bandage fits any size wrist and can be used in the prevention of CTS. Our compression elasticity is 100 percent. Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) can be prevented by the continual support that our bandages provide. And the best part of our bandage support, is that the user can control how much compression is applied by adjusting the wrap themselves. Our wraps do not work as a brace that totally immobilizes the wrist, but allows for supported motion. Ergonomic considerations of proper support are definitely addressed with the use of a Wrap-It™ Bandage!
